About Us

Who are we?

Bethany Baptist Church was established in 1968 as an Independent Baptist church, meaning that we are not organizationally connected to a denomination or association of churches.  We seek to align every aspect of our ministry to the Word of God:  our worship, our preaching, our doctrine, and our lives.  Our people are friendly, and the atmosphere is conducive to the spiritual growth of families and individuals.  Above all, we are passionate about advancing the cause of Christ both in our community and around the world.

What does that look like?

In our community we seek to live out the gospel, actively building relationships and showing the love of Christ to those around us.  Around the world, we seek to partner together with organizations and missionaries who are bringing souls to Christ and teaching them to follow Him.

What do we believe?

We believe that the Bible is the very Word of God.

We believe that there is only one true and living God who exists in three distinct persons:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ was and is both fully divine and fully human;  that He took on Himself the form of a man, lived a sinless life and died as a substitute for us, rising again to make full atonement for our sins.

We believe that Christ died for the sins of all people and that the free gift of salvation is offered to all.  In order to receive eternal life, a person must be born again by turning from sin and to God, by believing in Christ as Lord and Savior, and by accepting His offer of mercy.

We believe that a true believer has been set apart positionally before God the moment he believes and that he will continue to progressively grow in grace to be more like Christ.  One day the believer will be perfectly transformed into the image of Christ.

We believe that Christ instituted two ordinances for His church:  baptism as a testimony and picture of our faith in Him, and the Lord’s Supper as commemoration of His death until He comes.

We believe that the family was instituted by God and is defined by the marriage of one man to one woman.
